We have two cats, a male and a female, and we are thinking about adopting a third.
We would like to adopt an adult from cat rescue, rather than a kitten, if you think that will work. Should we select a male or a female?

An adult will be fine, and it probably should be a male.
You see, most of us cats live in matriarchal societies. Because a single female is usually in charge of a cat family, you probably would do better to adopt another male.
Our family is different, because I am king of my household jungle. Nevertheless, when Dougie joined our family, he and I became best friends.
